Watch our explainer video how we cooperate with Morssinkhof-Rymoplast to recycle this bottle towards new raw materials
After use, the bottle enters the collection system and is delivered to Morssinkhof-Rymoplast, where the packaging is processed into flakes. Air separation, also known as wind shifting, removes the lightweight sleeve fraction. Next, sink-float separation uses differences in material density to separate the sinking PET from the floating sleeve and cap fractions.
Because the stretch sleeve is applied without adhesives, the washing process is not affected by adhesive residues. After further cleaning, a pure PET stream is obtained that can be reused in high-quality PET applications.
The other material streams also retain their value. The LDPE fraction from the stretch sleeve is recycled into new plastic raw material, while the caps are processed for new applications. A cap-to-cap recycling solution is currently under development.
Key features
- the sleeve is made from 50% PCR
- the bottle is made from 100% rPET
- no adhesives: Because the sleeve fits around the bottle without adhesive, the flexible PE sleeve can be more efficiently separated from the PET material early in the recycling process.
- unique: The sleeve label is fully recyclable. Equally valuable: this keeps the PET stream free of adhesive residues.
