Save up to €50,000 per hectare with anti-condensation film

How can smart screening save you even more energy? Research on OPAC86E Anti-Condensation film shows that combining it with a conventional screen opens up some interesting possibilities.

Different perforation patterns (20×20, 10×10 and 5×5 cm) were compared with a conventional screen. According to the calculations, the 20×20 cm version can save up to 15% energy compared with a conventional screen. When the AC film is combined with a conventional screen, the theoretical energy saving can reach 22% compared with a conventional screen alone.

In the WUR calculations, gas consumption drops from 31.3 to 24.6 m³/m² per year. That’s a saving of 6.7 m³/m². At a current gas contract price in the Netherlands of €0.75 per m³, a 5-hectare greenhouse would save a theoretical €250,000 per year.¹ The film and its installation pay for themselves many times over.

It’s a smart combination for anyone who wants to get more energy efficiency out of their screening system, with relatively little light loss for the crop. Want to know more about the research and what OPAC86E can do for you? Get in touch. We’re happy to help!

¹ This calculation was made with the KASPRO model and is based on one specific greenhouse situation. Actual energy savings may vary by greenhouse, crop, prices and conditions, and are not guaranteed.

10% more reflection means 1% more growth

Research by Wageningen University & Research puts numbers on it: around 10% of greenhouse light reaches the floor. Every 10% of extra floor reflection gives roughly 1% more light on the crop, which means about 1% more production. Our Monoflex and Optiflex reflection films combine high reflection with high UV stability.
An additional advantage for a greenhouse floor is that using plastic  film allows less moisture to rise from the soil compared to ground covers,  which significantly reduces heating demand.

An perfect climate across your entire greenhouse

Get the most out of your crop with the AIR-OP climate hose.

Precisely tuned air distribution creates an even climate where crops can grow at their best. Our climate hoses are fully custom made, from perforation to diameter and length, so the airflow suits your situation. The result? Better photosynthesis, more efficient transpiration, less risk of tipburn and a stronger, healthier crop. Made from durable LDPE for long-lasting performance and maximum reliability.

New: OP-LiteSkin Cucumber shrink film

Thinner, clearer and cost-saving: the new standard in cucumber packaging. At just 12 micron, OP-LiteSkin cucumber film replaces the traditional 15 micron film and does more with less material. You save up to 15% on plastic and pack 15–20% more for the same price. More metres per roll means fewer roll changes and a more efficient packing process. And because the film is so clear, every cucumber still looks its best

More than 400 products in stock

In horticulture, the season sets the pace. You can’t plan the weather, the harvest or demand. Luckily, you can plan your packaging and films.

That’s why Oerlemans Plastics keeps more than 400 products in stock as standard, many of them made specifically for growing, harvesting and trade:

  • CO2 hoses
  • Substrate films in white and black white
  • Anti-condensation and extra-clear screen films
  • Gutter protection films
  • Standard films on rolls
  • Top sheets and crate cover sheets
  • Crate liners and flat bags
  • Tubular film and packaging films
  • And much more

We also supply mailing bags and carrier bags from stock, in both plastic (co-ex) and paper.
Everything from one supplier, delivered fast and in the quality you expect from us. So you never have to stop, even at the busiest point of the season.

Longer freshness with perforated film

Fruit and vegetables keep breathing after harvest: they take in oxygen and give off CO2 and moisture. If the packaging doesn’t allow for that, the produce spoils. Perfon’s perforated films are designed with this in mind. The number and size of the perforations are matched to how the product breathes, so the right gas conditions build up inside the pack. The result: longer shelf life and less waste.
The perforations also control moisture. Less condensation inside the pack means less risk of mould and fresher-looking produce on the shelf, especially for leafy greens and soft fruit.

The films also work with your packing process. They’re lightweight, easy to process and suitable for both manual and automated lines. Many of them are also recyclable, and they can be tailored to your specific needs.
One well-chosen film means longer freshness, less food waste and better
presentation. Wondering which perforation suits your product? Our specialists  will be happy to work it out for you.

Making packaging more sustainable? Join our seminar on 26 November

At the OPACKGROUP seminar on making flexible packaging more sustainable, we’ll discuss the possible solutions. We’ll also take a close look at the new PPWR packaging legislation and explain what it means. It’s a practical session that takes one afternoon, with time for your own questions.
