The judges were impressed with this entry, which is 80% recycled plastic (PCR). “A very sustainable alternative to the current shrink sleeves and paper adhesive labels that require glue and heat, said the judges. No glue needs to be used for this sleeve, the sleeve is easily separated from the container, no washing process of the container is needed. In all its simplicity, this is a very big sustainable step forward, which can make a big difference especially in production and recycling. Chapeau!
The sleeve also offers plenty of opportunities for communication. Producers who want to renew their packaging systems or make them more sustainable will certainly embrace these sleeves, the jury expects. Those still working with old(er) systems, however, would have to convert the packaging system to do so.”
Greenchem is one of the largest manufacturers and distributors of AdBlue in Europe. The company is part of AGROFERT Holding, a large privately owned Czech company with more than 34,000 employees divided into seven business units. With the philosophy “Together we work for a better environment,” it more than lives up to its cooperation with the OPACKGROUP by developing this circu-sleeve for the AdBlue jerry can. The award was therefore celebrated extensively together with Greenchem after the NL Packaging Awards 2023.
