The OPACKGROUP has opened the OTC Test Centre, a testing facility where food producers can test new packaging in a practical manner outside their own production environment. The centre focuses on packaging with specific barrier properties like Optilayer form & shrink solutions and applications in flowvac, flowwrap and deepdrawing, which must comply with the PPWR directive.

With the OTC Test Centre, OPACKGROUP offers customers and prospects from the meat, dairy, cheese, bake-off, and fish processing industries, among others, the opportunity to test new and more sustainable packaging solutions without disrupting their production process. “This is a real game changer in the industrial packaging world,” says Eddy Jansen, sales engineer at OPACKGROUP. “Whereas it can normally take months to test new packaging in production due to busy production schedules, this can now be done quickly and safely in our test centre.”

The OTC Test Centre is part of the OPACKGROUP Technology Centre, an independent research and testing center where a wide range of plastic and paper films and packaging are developed. Within the OTC Test Centre, the focus is on thermoforming, flow wrapping, vacuum packaging, and shrink wrapping.

PPWR

With the arrival of new European packaging legislation, such as the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), OPACKGROUP offers a future-proof solution. “We create an environment in which food producers can optimize their packaging to meet the new sustainability standard,” says Jansen. The OTC Test Centre underlines OPACKGROUP’s ambition to accelerate the transition to circular and sustainable packaging solutions in the food industry as an innovative packaging partner.

Optilayer-team

To support the transition to recyclable barrier packaging, OPACKGROUP has assembled a team of product specialists. Operating under the appropiate name Optilayer team, this experienced team guides packaging manufacturers through the development, testing, and introduction of future-proof recyclable packaging.
