OPACKGROUP wins gold with Ecovadis certification

  • Company

Sustainability is top priority at OPACKGROUP. We are therefore proud to announce that the company, with ten production sites in the Netherlands, has been awarded with the Ecovadis Gold certificate! Ecovadis is the world’s largest and most reliable partner for sustainability assessments for companies.

Therese van Vuren, responsible for Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE), is proud of the result: “Last year, we were proud of Silver, and by working together with all production companies and departments, we have taken another great step forward this year.” Over the past year, the OPACKGROUP has invested heavily in the IMPACT strategy, which maps out sustainability ambitions. Further investments have been made in the learning environment of the OPACKGROUP Academy (OKAY), where all employees can follow online courses and training, and steps have been taken in the areas of HR and sustainable procurement.  With the gold medal, OPACKGROUP ranks among the top 5% of more than 150,000 assessed companies, a top performance!

“In addition, we continue to invest in sharing our ambitions and working with our suppliers and customers to further expand our sustainable product portfolio of paper and plastic films and packaging. Our seminars on sustainable packaging have been a great success, but we are also actively involved in the results of the ‘Plastic Table’ in The Hague,” says Rob Verhagen, responsible for sustainability within the OPACKGROUP.

IMPACT

OPACKGROUP CEO Joan Hanegraaf is delighted with the achievement of Ecovadis Gold. “With the investments we have made, we are demonstrating that we can really make an IMPACT on a sustainable production chain.  Not just talking about sustainability. But actually putting it into practice, and having it validated and accredited externally. OPACKGROUP – the sustainable innovator”.  With its IMPACT strategy, OPACKGROUP focuses its sustainability ambitions on six themes: Innovation – Employees – Partners – Ambassadorship – Climate impact – Transparency.  The T for Transparency is clearly evident in the external assessment by Ecovadis.
